2021 Project Announcements

2021 Project Announcements

Here’s a confession: I love, love new year’s resolutions. I take this “new year” arbitrary time marker seriously and grab this opportunity to get organized and creative about what I’d like to pursue for the next year. Often these new year resolutions include some of the usual physical goals (getting more flexible, fixing my posture etc.) organizational goals and then of course some creativity goals. Long, familiar, story short, 2020 was not a good year for resolutions. After a successful 2019, completing all #SWDchallenges, I found 2020 difficult for this sort of thing, as I’m sure many others did as well. But here we are in 2021 and to start off the year I’d like to announce my 2021 creative projects. I’ve designed these endeavors to be flexible enough that if I have to take a break somewhere that’s OK, these are just to give me some direction. These projects will mostly live on Instagram, but occasionally, I’ll post an update here. I’ve come to find my favorite passion projects are ones where I get to learn more about something I really care about. So, for 2021 all my projects will center around something I love, food.

So, for accountability sake, here we go:

 Project 1:

This project will be a series of digitally illustrated food diagrams that identify specific parts of common foods and includes their macronutrient composition. I’ll use the Instagram post as a way to elaborate on the information in the diagram.

Project 2:

For this project I’ll be illustrating a series of patterns featuring foods from some holidays or customs. Examples include “Brunch” “road trip” “midnight snack” I’ll be using the Instagram posts to discuss any historical or cultural information about each topic.

Project 3:

This project will be done in traditional pen and ink. I hope to do more “old fashioned” pen and paper illustrations to break up the digital illustrating. Here I’ll be highlighting local foods I often buy and eat. I’ve already started this project on Instagram.

Other Projects:

As mentioned in my last blog, I hope to expand upon my #100daysofGrowEatHeal project and create a book. I’ll be working on this off and on throughout the year. I’ll try to share some of this work occasionally. Finally, I think I’d like to participate in some #SWDchallenges this year. I’ll be keeping my eye out for them throughout the year, if I do them, I’ll certainly highlight them on this blog.

Well, here’s to the new year! I look forward to another year of creating, learning and growing, but also discovering and admiring other’s work as well.

Thanks for reading!
